STEM Educator Innovators: Elementary Cohort

Description

The elementary cohort of STEM Educator Innovators will be composed of 30-35 elementary educators public education institution in the State of Utah. Applicants must be established in their teaching career, and must have completed teaching a minimum of three full school years in the elementary (K-6) grades prior to starting the program. Applicants must have a Professional or Level 2 teaching license for the elementary grades. 

The time commitment for participation is three school years (for details on each year, see Program Timeline in this document). While engaged in the program, participants must agree to stay in the classroom as an educator of elementary students.

Participants will develop teacher leader and mentor skills while also identifying and solving a problem of practice. A problem of practice, in this context, is a problem that a participant has experienced within their work as an educator.  Based on their problem of practice, participants will develop a personalized plan which will provide learning opportunities for them to develop the skills and knowledge necessary to address their identified problem.  These problems of practice can be addressed independently or with a small group of cohort participants.

This program will be delivered primarily in a virtual format, with both synchronous and asynchronous learning opportunities.
